How to manage email filters in cPanel

EmailLast updated October 2026

Filters automatically move, delete or block messages that match rules you choose. There are two kinds: Email Filters for a single mailbox and Global Email Filters for the whole domain.

Create a filter

  1. In cPanel, click Email Filters (or Global Email Filters).
  2. Click Manage Filters next to the mailbox, then Create a New Filter.
  3. Name the filter and add a rule, for example From “contains” the address you want to block.
  4. Choose an action, such as Discard Message or Deliver to Folder, and click Create.

Check for filters you did not create

If invoices or other emails disappear, or someone is receiving copies of your mail, a criminal may have added a filter to hide messages in the trash or send them elsewhere. Open both Email Filters and Global Email Filters and delete anything you do not recognise. Then change your passwords straight away.
