What to do when your mailbox is full

When a mailbox is full, new emails are returned to the sender with a message such as 552 Mailbox full. Here is how to fix it.

Free up space

• Delete large emails with attachments, then empty the Trash and Spam folders.
• If you use IMAP, remember the mail you see in your app is stored on the server and counts toward your limit.
• Save important attachments to your computer or cloud storage and delete the email.

Increase the mailbox size in cPanel

1. In cPanel, click Email Accounts.
2. Click Manage next to the mailbox.
3. Under Storage Space increase the number or choose Unlimited, then click Update Email Settings.
